Mahogany Mall

In collaboration with Architect Studio, Design Partnership developed the design for the MahoganyShopping Mall that is central to the Beau Plan Smart City Development.

The design of the mall involved arranging the building and the functions around the existing lake, a pivotal planning concept that seamlessly integrated with the outdoors and offered continuous access to the open areas. Additionally, the introduction of a public walkway around the lake meant that future developments could link to the mall. This approach created a mall deeply rooted in its surroundings, emphasizing a community-centred experience that seamlessly blends retail, culture, and social interaction.

Key customer touch points and amenities were designed and finished with a hospitality approach, creating spaces that elevate the experience to that of a hotel or restaurant. Similarly pause areas in the mall were designed as lounges with bespoke furniture pieces.

Re-purposed Sugar Cane machinery pieces, sourced from the site, roots the guest experience in a sense of place and nods to Mauritius’Sugar Cane heritage as well as it’s modern future. The inclusion of local contemporary art and installations throughout the space reinforces this idea with moments of surprise & delight.

In line with the global trend, that customers would typically choose their retail destination based on the food offering - Le MarchFood court concept and brand is designed as a destination for choice, comfort and unique flavour.

The introduction of Food Trucks promotes newness and local flavours with rotating vendors alongside the anchor fast food chains all finished according to the le Marche brand CI. This approach not only elevates but also democratises the food court experience, by offering a curated communal seating, typically found in casual or fine dining restaurants, but with choice across a selection of franchise, artisanal and local food.
