Mila Mina - Hospitality

In collaboration with Architect Studio, Design Partnership developed the interior environment for Mila Mina located on the north western island of Nosy Be off the coast of Madagascar.

The Mila Mina hotel has been designed with hints of the traditional Malagasy architecture; thatched roofs, and elaborate carpentry.

To enhance the visual aesthetics, a diverse range of materials and textures have been employed, including timber, metal, stone, breeze blocks, and various fabrics. These materials come together to form a visually stimulating environment, influenced by local art and craft, evident in both the rooms and public spaces.

Drawing inspiration from the red sands and colloquial moniker of the "great red island" for Madagascar, the design of the Harona restaurant integrates textures of rammed earth and clay, resulting in a beautifully hued ambiance.

Beyond the Architecture, the interior scope included Reception areas, Rooms, Presidential Villa, Buffet, Speciality Dining, the on site Spa as well as business centre.

The project looked to take into account the African island context and embrace the concept of "barefoot luxury," leveraging the pleasant temperate climate and stunning island backdrop to craft a relaxed and laid-back approach to luxury. Inviting guests to enjoy luxurious experiences, amenities, and services in a casual, unpretentious, and nature-oriented setting.
